About us
Kodoko Gurkha Distillery
From the foothills of Nepal to the shelves of the world — one spirit at a time.
At Kodoko Gurkha Distillery, we bring ancient traditions into the modern world — one bottle, one story, one sip at a time. Founded to spotlight the cultural spirits long overlooked by the global drinks industry, our mission is bold yet simple: to introduce the world to Rakshi — Nepal’s heritage spirit — and elevate it to the status it deserves, just as Tequila, Sake, and Soju once were.

Rooted in Heritage
Our story begins in the hills of Nepal, where Rakshi, a grain spirit distilled from finger millet (kodo), has been shared in ceremonies, celebrations, and everyday life for generations. Inspired by these roots, our founder set out to transform Rakshi from a hidden local treasure into a refined spirit that resonates across cultures.
Rakshi is not just a drink — it’s a legacy. Once confined to Himalayan villages, it now begins its journey to the global stage. Our flagship, Kodoko Rakshi, was recently awarded a Bronze Medal at the IWSC, a small but meaningful signal that the world is starting to pay attention.
The Gurkha Spirit
Our name is a tribute to the Gurkhas — symbols of resilience, honor, and pride in Nepal’s history and in its unique relationship with the UK. Just as Gurkhas forged unbreakable bonds between the two nations, our distillery builds cultural bridges through taste, story, and shared respect.
Every bottle we create embodies this same spirit: strong, authentic, and enduring.
Innovation with Integrity
While our soul is steeped in tradition, our techniques are uncompromisingly modern. We refine ancient recipes using state-of-the-art distillation methods, ensuring every batch delivers the bold character of heritage with the finesse of premium craftsmanship.
From Kodoko Rakshi Bold to the Timur- and Siltimur-infused Himalayan gins, we celebrate the hidden botanicals of Nepal. These native pepper berries, grown in high-altitude regions, offer rare flavour profiles found nowhere else in the world — and hint at the many untold tastes still to come from the Himalayas.
Himalayan Flavours, Reimagined
Our innovation doesn’t stop at Rakshi. We also explore the richness of Nepal’s native botanicals, starting with Timur and Siltimur — rare Himalayan pepper berries prized for their citrusy aroma and subtle spice, grown at elevations above 2,500 meters. These time-honored ingredients, used in Nepali kitchens and folk remedies for centuries, now find new life in our signature gins. And this is just the beginning — our future spirits will continue to showcase the untapped botanical wealth of the Himalayas, bringing flavours the world has yet to discover.
A Global Spirit, Finally Unleashed
We believe that some of the world’s most powerful stories are still untold. Kodoko is more than a distillery — it’s a movement to give forgotten cultural spirits their rightful place on the global shelf.
Join us as we bring Nepal’s liquid legacy to life.
