Gurkha

Profoundly impressed, the inherent tenacity and bravery of Gurkhas was first spotted by the British Empire during 1814-1816 Anglo-Nepal war. Quickly mutual respect developed, and Gurkhas became a steadfast inseparable part of the British Empire fiercely defending Britain ever since. Gurkhas truly live by their motto of “Better to die than to be a coward”.

Gurkhas come from the mountainous region of Nepal. They are among the finest and the most feared soldiers in the world immediately recognizable with their famous knife “Khukuri”.

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Indian Chief of Army staff (8 June 1969 – 15 January 1973) once said “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha”.
